[E'tyud : Etude]
Cat. no. 1-6 are presented under the motto "Credo".
[In my opinion the Cubists, Futurists etc. with all their oddities [or: extraneousness], I would even say with the sickliness of their objective, deserve greater esteem than those, who strictly copy nature; the first ones seek at least to find new paths on which, to their mind, art should be found. The subsequent ones, however, stick with the old traditions, implanted by educational institutions. While properly examining an object you start to distinguish in it all colors which do not catch the eye at first glance. In a green leaf for example, you might see blue as well as red, and yellow and other tones, however, the general impression was the green color. Therefore, for the depicition of a leaf one can permit all colors, as long as the impression was the green. To my mind it is only possible to achieve this through the decomposition of colors. Moreover, by doing so, one can preserve the freshness and purity of the colors. However, by placing two colors next to each other, for example, blue and yellow we do not obtain green; apparently you have to observe either the proportions of the occupied place by each color or to put an intermediate color tone between them. In my opinion the painting's subject is indifferent, whether the artist depicts a filosofical topic or just a random stone, as long as this intrinsically uninteresting stone, is presented so interesting that it will attract the spectator’s attention. And for this purpose I approve the departure of nature: the artist can exaggerate the use of one color and avoid other colors there, where he finds it necessary.] |

[Vesna : Spring]
Cat. no. 63-67e; 68ж; 69з are presented under the motto "Credo":
[Everyone is interpreting freedom in art and all are intolerant like despots, like zealots. The are looking for individualism, originality, but whole exhibitions have one imprint with the difference that it is one imprint of the past days, one of the present and the last allegedly from the future. Technique is a questionable concept. The Pre-Raphaelits would marvel at the conquests of our time in the art technique's sector. But they would die like artists and would stop thrilling the spectator's soul, if the would lose their primal technique.\ The exhibition-fairs engendered an eye-catching, bright technique, the intimacy with them is barely appropriate. Decorativeness in art is the producte of the mendacious culture of the everyday culture our times; the simplicity of the ancient greeks, connected with the beauty of continuity disappeared. Hence this whirlwind of styles and modes. The subject in art harms it as litte as in music, of course only if it is not itinerate-protocolary, but poetic. The plurality of methods is the artist's wealth.] |
